What tech stack can i use?
Anything! We recommend Solidity/TypeScript on EVM chains and Arbitrum, but Web2 back-ends are welcome.
Do I need a team?
Solo and team submissions (max 5) are accepted; we host a Discord team-finder.
Who owns my project IP?
You do. Winners grant MXNB & Bitso a non-exclusive right to feature the project for promo puposes.
Is there a fee to join?
No, participation is 100% free.

General Information
What is the MXNB Hackathon?
The MXNB Hackathon is a global virtual event where developers can build payment and DeFi applications using MXNB, a Mexican peso-backed stablecoin, on the Arbitrum network. The hackathon is organized by Bitso with PortalHQ and Arbitrum as co-organizers.
When is the MXNB Hackathon taking place?
The hackathon runs from June 18 to July 8, 2025. Winners will be announced on August 28, 2025.
Who can participate in the hackathon?
The hackathon is open to developers worldwide who are at least 18 years old. Members of the judging panel are not eligible to participate.
Is there a registration fee?
No, participation in the MXNB Hackathon is completely free.
Can I participate as an individual or do I need a team?
You can participate either as an individual or as part of a team. Teams can have up to 5 members.
Technical Questions
What is MXNB?
MXNB is a Mexican peso-backed stablecoin that maintains a 1:1 value with the Mexican peso (MXN). It allows for fast, secure transactions on blockchain networks with the stability of the Mexican peso.
Do I need prior experience with MXNB or Arbitrum?
Prior experience is helpful but not required. We'll provide documentation, resources, and technical support to help you get started.
What platforms and technologies should I use for my project?
Your project must use MXNB on the Arbitrum network. Beyond that, you're free to use any programming languages, frameworks, or tools that you prefer.
Will there be technical support available during the hackathon?
Yes, technical support will be available throughout the hackathon period. However, response times may vary, and we cannot guarantee immediate resolution of all issues.
What if I encounter issues with the testing environments?
We'll provide testing environments for development, but as mentioned in our Terms & Conditions, the organizers are not responsible for any disruptions caused by failures in the test environments. We recommend building your applications with potential technical constraints in mind.
Submission Process
How do I submit my project?
Submission details and requirements will be provided at the beginning of the hackathon. Generally, you'll need to submit:
- Your project code (typically via a GitHub repository)
- A brief description of your project
- A demo video (3-5 minutes) showcasing your application
- Documentation explaining how to run and test your project
What is the submission deadline?
All projects must be submitted by July 8, 2025, 23:59 UTC. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
What are the judging criteria?
Projects will be evaluated based on:
- Innovation and creativity
- Technical implementation and quality
- Effective use of MXNB and Arbitrum technology
- User experience and design
- Business potential and practical application
- Presentation quality
Tracks and Prizes
What are the different tracks in the MXNB Hackathon?
The hackathon features three tracks:
- Payments Track - For applications focused on payment solutions using MXNB
- DeFi Track - For decentralized finance applications using MXNB
- Arbitrum Bonus Track - An additional opportunity for projects that particularly showcase Arbitrum's capabilities
Can I submit my project to multiple tracks?
Yes, if your project fits the requirements for multiple tracks, you can submit it to more than one track.
What prizes are available for winners?
Payments Track
- 🥇 1st: $7,000 USD (in MXNB) + Conference ticket + mentorship sessions
- 🥈 2nd: $5,000 USD (in MXNB)
- 🥉 3rd: $3,000 USD (in MXNB)
- 🏅 4th: $1,000 USD in Bitso Business credits
DeFi Track
- 🥇 1st: $7,000 USD (in MXNB) + Conference ticket + mentorship sessions

Arbitrum Bonus Track

Additionally, Arbitrum will provide 1-year free gas (via paymaster) for winning teams of any track.
What does the Stablecoin Conference prize include?
First-place winners in the Payments and DeFi tracks will receive:
- Conference tickets for the event (up to 2 team members)
- Economy-class round-trip flights (for up to 2 team members)
- Hotel accommodation near the venue (for up to 2 team members)
- Daily meal allowance of $120 USD per person (for up to 2 team members)
Local transfers (airport to hotel or venue), visa costs, and expenses for additional team members are not included.
How and when will prizes be distributed?
Prizes will be paid in MXNB at the USD-equivalent value at the time of payout. To receive your prize, you must either:
- Have a Bitso account and provide your Bitso user ID, or
- If Bitso is not available in your country, provide an Arbitrum wallet address and complete a KYC process
Prize distribution will typically occur within some days after the winner announcement on August 28, 2025.
What is the mentorship benefit for first-place winners?
First-place winners will receive mentorship sessions with QED Investors. The exact format, duration, and scheduling of these sessions will depend on mentor availability and will be arranged after the hackathon concludes.
Intellectual Property
Who owns the intellectual property rights to my submission?
You retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights to your submission. However, by participating, you grant the organizers a non-exclusive license to use, display, and promote your submission for purposes related to the hackathon, such as marketing and educational materials.
Can I continue working on my project after the hackathon?
Absolutely! We encourage participants to continue developing their projects after the hackathon. Many successful products began as hackathon projects.
Can I open-source my project?
Yes, you are free to open-source your project if you wish. This decision is entirely up to you.
Logistics and Support
Is this hackathon entirely virtual?
Yes, the MXNB Hackathon is 100% online. All activities, including kickoff, workshops, mentoring sessions, and project submissions, will take place virtually.
How can I connect with other participants?
We'll provide a dedicated Discord server (or similar platform) for participants to network, form teams, ask questions, and share information throughout the hackathon.
Who do I contact if I have technical questions during the hackathon?
Technical support contacts will be provided at the beginning of the hackathon. You'll have access to a dedicated support channel where you can ask questions and receive assistance.
What if I need to withdraw from the hackathon?
If you need to withdraw from the hackathon for any reason, please notify the organizers as soon as possible.

All registered participants will receive updates via email. You can also follow the official hackathon Discord channel and social media accounts.
Will the hackathon offer any learning resources?
Yes, we'll provide documentation, tutorials, and other resources to help you understand MXNB, Arbitrum, and related technologies. These resources will be available to all registered participants.
Is there a Code of Conduct for the hackathon?
Yes, all participants are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct, which promotes a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment. The full Code of Conduct will be shared with registered participants.
